The Winners of Eastpointe Health & Fitness's Real Results
Winter Session Are Announced
On January 11th twenty-three (23) EPH&F members began their journey to health
by joining Eastpointe Health & Fitness' All-Inclusive Health Program. First started in 2005, the program is run three times throughout the year and focuses not only on weight loss but on improving overall health through balanced nutrition and exercise. As a result of this approach, participants see a reduction in other health indicators such as body measurements and body fat.
This past week marked the conclusion of the January session and the results are in! Trainers worked with the participants in several teams where they received the benefits of customized personal training, nutritional counseling, weekly motivational meetings and lectures all designed to help each individual achieve personal goals and lifestyle changes.
Final evaluations are complete and the biggest loser was Kevin O'Donnell of Highlands with over 21 pounds lost in eight weeks! A volunteer fireman for 30 years, Kevin logged in 41 workouts over the program and the results showed. "My wife has been a member of EPH&F and has wanted me to join for years. I fought joining with the excuse that I wasn't a "gym person"," said Kevin. "Then I had a check up at my doctor and I was really in bad shape . . .high triglycerides, high cholesterol...the whole nine yards. I was driving by the gym and saw the sign for the Real Results program and I pulled in and signed up. It's been life changing. I really like the trainers. They are so supportive. In fact, everyone has been helpful. The nutritional counseling was also key in my success. I really changed my eating habits and now I can say that I am a "gym person"!"

The winner in the body fat reduction category as well as the total number of inches lost was Maureen Catena of Rumson. Maureen also achieved the largest weight loss of the women in the group with a total of 15lbs. "Last spring I got very disgusted with myself," said Maureen. "I was getting winded when I walked up stairs, my weight was going up and I refused to buy larger jeans. So I joined the gym in June and I did lose 10 lbs but it was slow going and I felt that I needed to take it to the next level. I signed up for the Real Results program and I really got into it. I loved working with the trainers Charlie and Rose, the small classes and the nutritional counseling with Kim really changed how I eat now." In fact, Maureen was so happy with the Real Results program that she is signing up for the next session. "I'm going to keep going," said Maureen. "It works!"

"We had a wonderful group," said Garrity. "I am happy to say that for those people that attended the group meetings, weigh-ins and group training sessions, they have achieved some great results!" said Kim Garrity, EPH&F Nutritionist and Administrator of the program. "The participants that finished the program and completed their final evaluations lost an average of 9 lbs per person and they lost a total of 50.25 inches." |

"Past and current Real Results participants have said that what makes this program different from other programs is the amount of support and encouragement they received," said Owner Operator Paul Mazzella "They really felt like they were part of a group and that made the difference for them. In fact, six members of this past Real Results session have signed up for the next one. This is what truly differentiates our program and makes it so successful."
"Our next Real Results All-Inclusive Health Program is scheduled to begin on April 5th," said Garrity. " If Spring is a time for you to recommit to yourself and your goals, the April Real Results session is just in time! " The next program runs for eight weeks: from April 5th through May 30th. "Right before beach season begins," smiled Garrity. Sign ups are in progress now and space is limited.
