Free Childcare Services
Eastpointe Health & Fitness is pleased to offer free
childcare services to members of the facility during the
following schedule:

Monday from 9am - 11am
Tuesday from 8am - 12pm & 5pm - 7pm
Wednesday from 8:30am - 11am
Thursday from 8am - 12pm
Friday from 9am - 11am
Saturday from 9:05am - 11:05am
Extended pay-per-use childcare
Based on recent feedback we will also now be offering
extended childcare services by appointment at a cost
of $5.00 per 1/2 hour time slo
t. Time slots are
available after regular childcare hours on Tuesday and
Thursday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm and again on
Saturdays from 11:00am until 12:00pm. Extended
childcare reservations must be made at least 24 hours
prior and may need to be immediately following
another scheduled shift.

The New Season Brings
Healthy Changes!
Eastpointe Health & Fitness
begins the Fall Session of
Real Results
On September 27th, twenty-three (23) members
committed to their health by joining Eastpointe Health &
Fitness' All-Inclusive Health Program. This session
runs for eight (8) weeks: from September 27th through
November 21st.

During the initial set up, each participant met
individually with the facility Nutritionist and a Personal
Trainer to complete a full health assessment including
initial weights and measurements. Based on this
assessment, each person is given an individual plan
for both eating and exercise. "It is the customization of
the plan that leads to success" states Nutritionist and
Program Administrator, Kim Garrity. "If it does not work
with your lifestyle, it does not work, period!"

And the program's track record has shown that it does
work.

It is never too late to begin!

Just because you missed the start of the Fall session
does not mean you have to wait for the next session to
begin. Individual nutrition plans are available now and
can set the foundation for the next program in January.

These two-session, 90 minute, detailed
consultations will include goal setting, weights
and measurements, body composition testing,
blood pressure screening, fitness and cardio
tests, functional movement screening, posture
assessment, exercise analysis,
cardio/strength/nutrition education, as well as
prescriptions and recommendations.
Health & Fitness Assessments are a great way
to have a fitness professional evaluate your
current level of health and physical fitness
and make recommendations for improvement.
Individual assessments, as well as quarterly
assessment options to track your progress over
time will be offered starting in late November.

In my last post I described the symptoms of
tennis elbow and treatment options. Here I
will describe the rehabilitation process for
this condition.
Physical Therapy:
Epicondylitis often becomes a chronic problem
if not cared for properly. For this reason, it must
be stressed that the rehabilitation process
should not be progressed until you experience
little or no pain at the level you are performing.
Regaining full strength and flexibility is critical
before returning to your previous level of sports
activity.

with a Personal Trainer

and working with a personal trainer has been
like the difference between night and day,"
said Eastpointe Health & Fitness member,
Rebecca Kopp. "Not having the athletic work
ethic of a Tiger Woods
or Lance Armstrong, I was the kind of person
who had to trick myself into going to the gym.
Like changing into workout clothes at the office
or not going home first but going straight to the
gym. I was probably 30% successful at making
it to the gym. Then once I got there, I might walk
a mile on the treadmill and do a couple of
machines. It was a pretty pathetic effort. Then one
day I saw a sign that a member was looking for a
training partner to workout with a personal trainer.
I decided right there and then that that's what I
needed to do to get the fitness resultsI was looking
for. That decision changed my life."

Reminders
  • All members and guests must check-in at
    the front desk by swiping their key-tag or
    by printing their name clearly on the sign-in
    sheet. Swiping your key-tag for entry at the back
    door also checks you in.

  • Please do not take our towels. Take a look at
    home for any towels that you may have mistakenly
    taken home and please return them. In order to
    continue to provide this service we need to keep
    the towels in the gym.

  • There is now key card access available via the
    back door of the gym during regular operating hours.
    Just swipe your card as you do at the front counter
    and the door will unlock for your entrance. If there are
    any problems with your account (i.e. membership has
    expired) the door will not unlock. Please see a member
    of the front desk staff if you have a problem.
